Spectral noise for edge states at the filling factor

چکیده
We present a detailed analysis of finite-frequency noise for the ν = 5/2 fractional quantum Hall state in a quantum point contact geometry. The results were obtained within the Pfaffian and anti-Pfaffian models. We show that the behaviour of the coloured noise allows us to unambiguously discriminate among tunnelling excitations with different charges. Optimal values of the external bias are found in order to emphasize the visibility of the noise peak associated with the tunnelling of a 2-agglomerate, namely an excitation with charge that is double the fundamental one. These correspond to the regime in which the bias is larger than the neutral modes cut-off frequency. The dependence on temperature is also investigated to discriminate between the considered models. 5 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. We analyze the effect that the Coulomb interaction has on the edge excita-tions of an electron gas confined in a bar of thickness W , and in presence of a magnetic field corresponding to filling factor 1 Quantum Hall effect. We find that the long-range interaction between the edges leads the system to a ground state with a quasi-long range order, similar to a Charge Density Wave. The spectral d...

We use the nonequilibrium bosonization technique to investigate the effects of the Coulomb interaction on quantum Hall edge states at a filling factor ν=2, partitioned by a quantum point contact (QPC). We find that, due to the integrability of charge dynamics, edge states evolve to a nonequilibrium stationary state with a number of specific features. In particular, the noise temperature Θ of a ...
متن کاملFractionalization noise in edge channels of integer quantum Hall states.
A theoretical calculation is presented of current noise which is due charge fractionalization, in two interacting edge channels in the integer quantum Hall state at filling factor ν=2. Because of the capacitive coupling between the channels, a tunneling event, in which an electron is transferred from a biased source lead to one of the two channels, generates propagating plasma mode excitations ...
متن کاملAnomalous charge tunneling in fractional quantum Hall edge states at a filling factor ν=5/2.
We explain effective charge anomalies recently observed for fractional quantum Hall edge states at ν=5/2 [M. Dolev, Y. Gross, Y. C. Chung, M. Heiblum, V. Umansky, and D. Mahalu, Phys. Rev. B 81, 161303(R) (2010)]. The experimental data of differential conductance and excess noise are fitted, using the anti-Pfaffian model, by properly taking into account renormalizations of the Luttinger paramet...
متن کاملEdge effects in graphene nanostructures: II. Semiclassical theory of spectral fluctuations and quantum transport
We investigate the effect of different edge types on the statistical properties of both the energy spectrum of closed graphene billiards and the conductance of open graphene cavities in the semiclassical limit. To this end, we use the semiclassical Green’s function for ballistic graphene flakes that we have derived in Reference 1. First we study the spectral two point correlation function, or m...
